Items can be upgraded at any NPC who is an upgrader in the game. Typically, these NPCs are located in major cities or questing areas. Players can also locate item upgraders by visiting dungeons with high-level bosses and by talking to NPCs in their faction's garrisons.

The system of upgrading items in World of Warcraft provides players with the possibility of upgrading the level of armor, weapons, and trinkets.
