World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

Upgrades to items are a method to increase the stats of an item. Depending on the type of upgrade, it can increase the rarity of an item or mark Level and increase other stats.

Each item has a track to upgrade it. Each upgrade increases the cost of the next item by a specified amount.

Item Level

The value of an item's basic stats increases when it is upgraded. This value is the total of all the upgraded advantages (attack magic attack, attack defense). Upgrading items can be expensive, depending on the upgrader and the kind of upgrade you decide to perform. This is due to the sheer number of perks that need to be changed in order to upgrade item an item.

It can also be used to enforce gating requirements when waiting for dungeons, raids and scenarios. It also serves to limit how much PvP gear players can use, since PvP is limited at lower levels. The average level of the item can be found on the character sheet.

When deciding to purchase or sell gear players can look at the level of an item. It's a useful gauge of an item's worth and the amount of damage it's capable of causing. Comparing items in the inventory of a seller is possible using the item level.

The level of the item can be seen by pressing the ALT key on a PC or using the left stick (L3) on XB1 and PS4. This will show the item's full description, including ilvl. It is also accessible by hovering over an item using the mouse cursor and entering /itemlevel into chat.

There are various theories on how the calculation of the item's level is done. One theory states that the item level is determined by a formula that calculates how valuable an item's stats actually are. It takes into consideration that different benefits are valued differently and that gems in sockets increase the item's value. This can result in an item's ilvl calculated, which is usually very close to Blizzard's actual level of the item.

However, this is not the only factor that can affect an item's ilvl as the level of the region the item dropped in can change the value of its stats, such as by adding an amount to its haste rating or crit rating. This means that items dropped at higher levels will have higher ilvl than those from lower-level instances.

The stats of an item are a major part of what determines the value of an item for players. The game uses a lot of them in various ways to encourage players to play with a variety of weapons, and also to stop one weapon from being "the best." The stat mods on weapons boost base stats. These stat mods are then increased by a player's level.

The upgrades to items add by boosting certain stats on the item. The rarity of an item determines its cost of upgrading. A white or grey item for instance, will only be upgraded one time and items with rare tiers may be upgraded several times at more expensive costs.

Another method of altering the stats on an item level upgrade is through affixes. These are special stat boosts that can be added to an item by the player, and they come in all shapes and sizes. Affixes are used to provide items with extra damage, special abilities (such as revitalizing dead or reducing cooling downs), or to differentiate them by putting a name on them.

All affixes are being re-rolled right now by selecting them in the upgrade item window pressing the green button. This procedure will cost the player a certain amount of gold and items that can be added to the upgrade gauge in the same manner as other rerolling options.

In addition to rerolling affixes, players can also choose which of the available stats to keep on an item when it is upgraded. The stat ranges are determined by the item's level. However every item will contain at least one stat in the same range, unless it's an exclusive item or an item that has a God Roll from a boss in a raid.

Another thing that could change is the option to upgrade equipment without having to reroll the affixes, or choose which stats to enhance. But as with base equipment, this would have to be done on a per-item level, and the interface for comparing items will not show all the stats that could be that were gained or lost at the same time.

Item Luck

A player's Luck stat stacks up to increase the odds of item discoveries and the properties that are spawned from loot drops and the intensity of the properties. However, it does not directly impact damage or the ability to upgrade items. It gives the player an opportunity to get better equipment earlier in the game. This is particularly useful in the early game, because players tend to put the scaling of weapons and defenses over raw damage gains.

Luck can also boost the chance of upgrading items at the Blacksmith. This should not be confused with the Blacksmith's overall upgrade probability which increases with each item level and can be further increased by using an anti-material such as a Scroll of Strength or a Jewel of Blessing.

The shields, armor and weapons have the default Luck value of 40. These items can be enhanced by using golden ingots or spined leather (depending on the type of material) to add another 40 luck or to increase an item's existing Luck up to 140.

Certain items, such as the weapon with Hollow-infused components can also be crafted to increase the damage of any ability that causes damage by five percent. These items are available in the shop or constructed using the right ingredients.

Item Failure

Upgrades to items can be a costly process and not all upgrades will succeed. However, there are some cash shop items that allow players to boost their chance of success or stop themselves from losing an item if the upgrade fails.

When you upgrade an item, the success rate is shown in the Honing UI. The percentage is the chances of successfully upgrading that item, and it can be increased by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. There are limitations on the extent to which success rates can be increased, and the overall chance of a failed upgrade cannot exceed 100%..

The Luck of an item can also influence the success of an upgrade. Each item has a base success rate of 25%, and each item with Luck increases the chance of success by 5percent.

The item upgrade overlays are rendered above the items in the inventory. This may cause obscurity to enchantment effects or other effects. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
