World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

Upgrades to items are a method to increase the stats of an item. Based on the type of upgrade you choose, it may increase the rarity of an item or mark Level and boost additional stats.

Upgrading gear in The War Within requires a set number of Flightstones and Crests Each item comes with an upgrade track. Each upgrade increases the price of the next item by a specific amount.

Item Level

When an item is upgraded, its basic stats increase in value. The value is the sum of an item's upgraded perks (attack magic attack and defense). Upgrades to items can be costly, depending on the upgrader you choose and the kind of upgrade you decide to make. This is because of how many perks must be replaced in order for the item to be upgraded.

It is also used to enforce gating requirements when queueing for raids, dungeons and scenarios. It can also be used to determine a gating condition when waiting for dungeons, scenarios, and raids, as well as to limit the amount of PvP gear that a player can wear (since PvP is limited to an lower level). When deciding to purchase or sell equipment players can look at the levels of the item. It's an excellent indicator of an item's quality and the amount of damage it is able to deal. Comparing items from the inventory of a vendor can be done by using the item's level.

On your PC, you can see the level of the item by pressing ALT or by using the left stick on XB1 or PS4. The item will be displayed with its full description, including ilvl. You can also locate it by hovering over an item and typing /itemlevel in chat.

There are several theories on how the item level calculation is done. One theory states that the item level is calculated using a formula that calculates the value of an item's stats actually are. Item Stats

The stats of an item can be the difference between a good or bad item for players. The game makes use of them in a variety of ways to encourage players not to restrict themselves to a particular weapon and to motivate players to experiment with other weapons. The stats of a base weapon are boosted by the weapon's stat modifications which are then boosted by the player's level.

The upgrades to items add by increasing certain stats on the item. The rarity of an item determines the upgrade cost. Item Luck

A player's Luck stat stacks up to increase the likelihood of item discoveries, the properties spawned on loot drops, and the intensity of those properties. However, it doesn't directly affect damage or ability to upgrade items. It gives the player a possibility to obtain better gear in earlier waves and is therefore more beneficial in early game runs than in later ones, since most players prefer more powerful weapon scaling and defenses over damage gains.

Luck can also increase the chances of upgrading items at the Blacksmith. This is not to be confused with the Blacksmith’s overall chance of upgrading, which increase with each new level of item. It is also possible to be enhanced by using anti-materials, such as the Scroll of Strength and a Jewel of Blessing.

The shields, armor, and weapons have an initial Luck value of 40. These items can be enhanced with golden ingots, spined leather, or oak boards (depending on the material of the item) to grant an additional +40 Luck, or to increase the Luck of an item, up to 140.

Furthermore, certain items, such as the Hollow weapon, which is infused with Hollow can be used to boost the damage of any damage-dealing skill by five percent. These items can be purchased in the shops or made by using the appropriate ingredients.

Item Failure

Item upgrades are costly and not all upgrades will succeed. However, there are some cash shop items which allow players to increase their chances of success or even prevent them from losing an item if the upgrade fails.

When you upgrade an item the success rate is shown in the Honing UI. The percentage is the chances of successfully upgrading that item and can be enhanced by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. The probability of success can only be increased so high, and the probability that an upgrade will fail can't exceed 100%..

The success of an can be affected by the luck of that item. All items have an average success rate of 25 percent and each item that has Luck increases the chance of success by 5percent.

Note that item upgrades are rendered above the items in the inventory which means that enchantment glints and other effects may be masked by them. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
