Path of Exile Item Upgrading

The most effective way to upgrade your equipment in Path of Exile is through upgrading your items. This allows you to improve it without having to depend on costly trades or drops. This article will help you understand how to upgrade your items.

Upgrades to equipment provide an additional bonus to the item's stats. The bonus increases with upgrade component's level and rarity.

Components

Upgrade components can make your armour and weapons better. You can find them through destroying enemies, buying them from karma sellers or finding them in item-spheres. You can also salvage them from equipment that has the components, or by utilizing salvage kits of high-end quality, such as Black Lion Salvage Kit and Ascended Salvage Tool. Upgrade components cannot be destroyed by removing them from an item.

Upgrade components are primarily used to upgrade an item however, they can also be used for other reasons. They can be used to increase the level of experience gained from upgrading existing equipment or weapons. They can also be made to give additional bonuses. For instance, a specially created glyph can increase the upgrade chance of its target, while the boost upgrade can enhance the defense or attack quality of a weapon or armor.

Selecting an upgrade template in the GUI will allow you to connect it to an item. This will show an upgrade component list that the item can be upgraded to. Each component has a distinct experience multiplier, which determines how much more experience an item will gain when it upgrades with that component. It is therefore recommended to upgrade with organic components until you have reached the experience multiplier of the next rank of the equipment or weapon, and then move to mechanical upgrades.

Each item has a maximum upgrade number that is available for. The number of items that are upgradeable is determined by their upgradeable rank, and the kind of upgrade they are able to receive. Sets
