Roborock makes some of our most loved robotic hoovers vacuums and the Q5+ is no exception. disappoint. It's the cheapest model of their auto-empty line. Although it doesn't include some of the expensive features (like no-go areas and multi-story memories) however, it's an excellent choice for those who are willing to make some compromises to save a few bucks.

The Q5+ is exceptionally gentle when it comes down to obstacles like table legs and walls. This makes it a great option for homes with many furniture pieces. It's also extremely thorough in cleaning up dust bunnies, which is a problem where cheaper robot vacuums be a bit sloppy. The technology used to navigate in the Q5+ is superb and has very few missing in corners and on walls.

Like other Roborock devices like the Q5+, the Q5+ can be controlled using the buttons on the device itself or via the Roborock app. The app allows you to start and stop cleaning. You can also set up schedules, create virtual barriers and no-go zones and modify your home map or re-label rooms.

If you choose to purchase the Q5+ model, it ships with a new auto-empty dock, which was designed specifically to make this robot simple to maintain. Installing it requires a screwdriver, but once it's installed it can be done without difficulty. It features a large LCD screen, which is useful when setting up schedules and adjusting settings. This isn't an essential feature for the majority of people but it will aid in keeping track of your robot's maintenance intervals easily.

3. Narwal Freo X Ultra

The Freo X Ultra is a well-rounded robot mop and vacuum that's astonishingly smart in both its mopping and vacuuming capabilities. Its design and features are among the best on the market however it's expensive.

It's a small base station that looks great and is easily hidden when not in use. The station's main selling point is that it automates many tasks, chores and functions that other robots have to leave to you. It stores clean and dirty water, electrolyzes and heats the water (which many other robots require you to do) and empty the dust bin after vacuuming, and keeps your robot fully charged and clean.

Its vacuuming performance is also impressive. It's one of the few robovacs I've tried that does a really good job of cleaning up debris from unfinished floors, and it's not as loud as the more expensive Roomba 980 or iRobot 900 series.

However, the Freo X Ultra has its flaws, particularly in terms of navigation. Its laser sensors and LiDAR sensors aren’t as reliable as other robot vacuums. This means it can get stuck or get confused in certain corners or rooms in the home. It's not able to navigate stairs as well as some competitors, and it doesn't have a dock that allows you to set up a dedicated cleaning zone for carpets that are soft.

The Freo X Ultra robot vacuum and mop is a great choice for those who want an automated vacuum that can do everything.

If you're looking to save money or don't mind the limitations of the robot, there are plenty of other options available. Many eufy models cost substantially less. The Eufy Qrevo Curv, for instance is less expensive and offers a similar in-app experience with additional features such as stair climbing, a full-function dock, and superior overall performance when vacuuming floors as well as high- and low-pile carpets.

Eufy, an Anker company, has a track record of making robot vacuums that strike a good balance between performance, features and price. You can also connect the G30 to Amazon Alexa or Google Home for voice commands to perform routine cleaning tasks that are not scheduled.

The primary aspect that distinguishes the G30 above the rest is the method it cleans. It makes use of an integrated map to make a picture of the immovable objects in its path. It can remember the items it has cleaned and where it cannot access. It automatically returns to the base to recharge and continues cleaning where it left off.

The sleek G30 isn't without its faults however. The iRobot Roomba is better built and has lower cost of operation. It charges faster, offers similar battery life and performs better on bare floors or low-pile carpet. It also comes with a larger dust bin that doesn't have to be empty as often and comes with the boundaries to restrict it from certain areas. The G30 is less expensive and easier to maintain. Its smaller size means that it doesn't have to be emptied as often, and it has less difficulty with bulky items like cereal.
