The only drawback is that the X40 still a loud unit. This could be a concern in the mornings before work or at night when you're trying to sleep.

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with many advanced features to help you get rid of your chores. Like Ecovacs range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that can take charge of both mopping and vacuuming, with a multifunction dock that automatically empties the vacuum's dustbin, refills its water tank, and washes and dries its mop pads.

The smart robot employs a combination of LIDAR and structured light to draw out floor plans and identify obstacles, and navigates more effectively than its top competitors. It also has a front mounted camera that can detect hazards in real-time, though this wasn't completely foolproof in our tests, and was often confused with obstructions or power cords.

The vacuum cleaner has an maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to do the job. It also has an attribute known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts cleaning frequency for different areas in the home based on how dirty these areas are.

If you have a bigger home, it's worth selecting a model with a the option of cleaning zones or spots. It's also highly self-sufficient, with a fully-featured app, and a self emptying base that is washable.

The iRobot application is designed to help you navigate a mapping run, which gathers information on your floorplan and any "no go" areas that you have marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules, or to organize a spot-clean. You can also use it to prioritize the most soiled areas for better performance. The app has a range of features, such as seasonal suggestions, customized mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.
