World of Warcraft - Item Upgrade

The upgrade feature for items allows players to increase the item level for equippable weapons or armor. This improves the stats and may also include buffs or rerolls an affix.

These upgrades can be used to boost the overall power of a group or unit, and may significantly impact the gameplay.

Any NPC that upgrades items can be found in the game. These NPCs can be found in major questing areas, or capital cities. You can also find upgrades for items by visiting dungeons with high-level bosses. You can also talk to NPCs in garrisons of your faction.

The World of Warcraft item upgrade system allows players to upgrade the level of armor, weapons and trinkets. The process is similar to the process used for gear reforging in Mists of Pandaria and Warlords of Draenor, but instead of using the currency that is appropriate, players must visit an NPC for upgrading items to complete the process.

Upgrades can be costly, especially for armor and weapons. Depending on which upgrade track you select, each level increase can cost Valorstones or Crests. The total cost could be prohibitive for players who do not have the funds or are unable to grind them.

Some upgraded items are only able to be rerolled if the initial item upgrader mod was Unique Epic, Rare, or Rare. Additionally, exceptional items can be rerolled but the original stats are replaced by a flat-rate bonus. Rerolling an item that is Rare or Epic item will produce an ordinary version, while rolling the Epic version will result in an elite version.

Time

Recycled items will not keep their level, or the resources used to upgrade them.

An item's maximum upgrade level is determined by its tier and quality. Rare items can be upgraded up to the maximum level of six while Rare and Epic items can be upgraded to levels nine.
