World of Warcraft - Item Upgrading

Upgrades to items allow players to increase the gear score of an item upgrader up to 700 and also add a final perk. Items can be upgraded if they are in your inventory and you decide to take them to the kiln.

Certain items can be upp'd to increase their stats (like a perfectly made breakpoint armour that can be rolled to use in melee PvP) while others like weapons don't change much post upgrade, so they aren't worth upgrading.

Weapons

Upgrades to weapons can improve their numerical stats, like attack damage, crit probability and PvE/PvP damage. Weapons also have a flat bonus which increases the damage they deal per second. In addition, many weapons have a set bonus which is activated when three or more of the same weapon is present on a single unit. This bonus could exceed the damage a weapon upgrade can do on its own.

The cost of upgrading a weapon varies on its rarity as well as its current level. For instance, an upgrade to a +2 weapon will require two standard Smithing Stones while a+3 requires four. The number of stones required to upgrade item a gun will increase until it needs more Smithing Stones. At that point it will reset to one.

Upgraded weapons can also alter their base stats. While this is generally an excellent thing but it can also have negative consequences as well. Once you've completed the primary side quest and have completed the corresponding fountain you'll be able to speak to any Great Fairy to open up the armor upgrading menu.

The amount of materials required to upgrade each piece of armor will differ. You'll need anywhere from three Red Chuchu jellies and 10 Rupees to upgrade the first armor piece, and anywhere between five Rubies or 10 Fire-Breath Horns to upgrade each subsequent one. The Champion Leathers, for example can be upgraded to an increase of 5 defense rating, which allows you to stay ahead in frigid conditions with a large number of adversaries. The Snowquill Headdress, on the other hand, can be upgraded to +20 defense to ensure you can survive a raid with your friends.

Be aware that armor can't be upgraded the same way as weapons, so you'll want to focus on enhancing it to increase physical strength if you're a Warrior or Spell Power when you're Mage. It's also worth saving your armor upgrades for the armor you'll be wearing at the end of the game, such as the Ring of Lightning and Spectral Shield or the helmet you wear to fight the final boss, the Monter Parts Merchant's mask.

You can also gain benefits to your armor by presenting the jeweler at Gerudo Town 10 Twinkling Titanite. You'll typically want to keep these upgrades to the weapon that you'll use to beat the game. For example the Longsword or Battleaxe. But it's useful to have a few upgrades to the armor on your chest and helmets to allow you to sneak around some monsters.

Potions

Finally, there are lingering potions, which are brewed with dragon breath and splash potions. Redstone is also added to potions that are lingering to increase their effect. The potion table is now arranged more like the Java Edition, and new potions were added, such as potion of leaping, potion of decomposition, and turtle master potions.

Trinkets

A trinket is a tiny and affordable ornament or piece of jewelry. It can be a reference to a piece of art or a decoration that serves a function but isn't particularly significant like a tiny thimble. In some cultures, a trinket is used to express affection or friendship between family members.

In addition to armor, weapons, and potions, players are able to upgrade their trinkets. Upgrades can be purchased by paying the appropriate currency to an upgrade vendor. In contrast to other upgrades for items trinkets, trinkets can be traded out at any time without losing their stats.

Upgrade vendors are located at the capitals of every zone, and sometimes in dungeons. Upgrades for trinkets can be purchased using tokens, gold or fragments of a rare trinket.

Upgrades are a cost-effective alternative to buying a brand new trinket. You can upgrade a trinket for just 12 tokens. The new trinket will have the same base ilvl of the old one, and will have an additional 1% upgrade bonus.

Once the old Trinkets have become not usable, they can be upgraded. This allows a player to increase their power and value over time. They can be traded between players which makes them a good alternative to gold.

In general players should make upgrades to their top-priority items first. This usually refers to the most valuable-in-slot items for their class, then their secondaries and then other pieces of gear that they won't replace soon (for example, a ring or cloak). When deciding which items to upgrade, players should also consider the preferred statistics of their class. For instance when Haste and Crit are the two most important stats for a tank it is recommended that they upgrade their helm, chest shoulders, belt, and helm.

Trinkets can be re-upgraded to a higher ilvl once they no longer have value, and the new trinket will have an additional upgrade bonus of 1. However, a re-upgrade is likely to destroy the old trinket until it is saved using the Black Lion Salvage Kit or an alternative salvage tool that is higher-end. Upgrades to trinkets can be more expensive than other upgrades but still cheaper than buying a new one.
