Three Wheeled Buggies

Three-wheeled buggies are ideal for walking around the neighborhood or running. Their compact design makes it easy to maneuver, even in tight spots.

If you are looking for an easy ride in your baby, opt for models with 360deg front wheels that can swivel. They are, however, susceptible to punctures. Be prepared with a repair set.

Sturdy frame

New figures show that three-wheeled buggies that were the symbol of the decade that had more money than common sense, are in rapid decline. They have been replaced by four-wheelers which can be more versatile in terrain, yet still look swanky and being easy to push.

The rule is that the bigger the wheels, the easier it will be for your buggy to cope with rough ground and bumpy pavements. The larger wheels, both front and rear enable you to move and more stable when walking downhill or in difficult terrain.

MFM reviewer Kath tried the buggy with a newborn as well as a 3 year old and found that it coped well with cobbles, grass, rough pavements, dirt tracks and kerbs. She said "it feels sturdy to push and very solid when going over difficult terrain. The tyres, which are inflatable and need to be pumped up occasionally and have a suspension built-in. It was extremely comfortable for my children.

Another thing to consider is the size of the seat and shape. You'll want it to be large enough for your child's comfort. You will also require it to recline to allow them to lie flat. Some three-wheel buggies offer a lie-flat option that lets your child face you, whereas others only allow a face-to-parent one.

Larger wheels will give your buggy more stability while driving over rough terrain. This is ideal for buggies designed for off-road use. They also make it easier to navigate the pushchair through tight spaces. Many three wheeled buggies have swivel front wheels to aid you in maneuvering around corners with ease, whereas others are specifically designed for running and have fixed front wheels that lock to increase the speed and stability with the speed at which they can be pushed. This is particularly useful when you bump against a tree or a kerb. The front wheel will lift slightly to keep it from hitting it.

A lot of lightweight 3 wheel buggy wheeled pushchairs come with air-filled tyres that allow them to tackle a broad range of terrains. They are also more flexible than 4 wheelers. They are also lighter. They are more prone to punctures, so you'll need to have repair kits and an spare inner tube on hand.

The drawback of having larger wheels is that they make some buggies quite wide and may struggle to squeeze through narrow spaces. This could be problematic if you intend to use it for jogging or you need to get through narrow doorways while on the move. Many models have compact folding options that let you remove the front wheels and store them in a more compact manner.

Easy to maneuver

One of the major advantages of a three wheel pushchair-wheel buggy is that it's much easier to maneuver, especially with a child in the back. The way they are built means that the front wheels spin at a whim and are really easy to manoeuvre and are ideal for tricky terrain like cobbles, parks, bumpy pavements and dirt tracks.

MFM reviewer Kath tried a 3 wheel parent facing pushchair-wheeler with her toddler. she wrote: "The Terrain is a pleasure to drive in rough terrain. The swivel wheel front was especially helpful." I was also impressed with the way it handled kerbs with the hand-operated break. It was extremely stable when going downhill or on a rough terrain."

The only drawback to this great maneuverability, is that the larger wheels of the 3 wheel baby strollers wheel buggy can sometimes make it difficult to fit into tight spaces. This is something to keep in mind when you live in a city. If this is a problem then a four-wheeled buggy might be the better choice for you.
