Upgrades can give you boosts in specific statistics. Each upgrade items increases the item level by +3. A random substat is also boosted alongside each upgrade.

Upgraded gear generally sees more value in trade, unless it has inherently low requirements (like the FB shield of the sorc) or a very high stat variance (like Eth titan weapons). The latter see less value from upgrading due to the need to roll for a perfect model.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear by transferring the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of armor or weapon. However, the item that is used for the upgrade will be consumed forever and will not be able to be used again. Upgrades can be used to create Enchantments.

You can upgrade your gear anytime by visiting the upgrader in any major city. To keep your gear current, it is recommended that you visit the upgrader each couple of weeks.

The cost of upgrading will depend on the current item level of the gear being upgraded however, they will always be cheaper than buying new equipment from other sources. For example, upgrading a chest piece from Benthic to 385 levels will cost 20 recycle points, while purchasing the same item from another player will cost 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are functional items that can be used to level up weapons and tools, armor and other items. They can be purchased by players from item upgraders NPCs for a variety of currencies. They are also available on random treasure lists. Once an upgrade is purchased, it can be used on any weapon or tool using a button, which will display an image of the item at the next upgrade level if the player has sufficient materials.

The cost of upgrades varies based on the item slot and the current item level as well as the level of the weapon, which is more than bracers or gloves, for example. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones plus a specific number of crests. Some upgrades offer discounts on Flightstones. Once an item is upgraded to a certain degree, it can be downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower cost.

The new currency system isn't complicated to use, but it will bring some changes to the process of upgrading. For instance, when an item is at the highest upgrade item level of any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic) it won't need Flightstones to be upgraded. This allows players to upgrade their gear to the highest possible level for all their characters, instead of relying on seasonal loot.

It's also crucial to choose crests with care, since they only have one use. It is best to use your Whelpling-rank crests on the best gear you can locate and save Drake and Wyrm Crests to be used for the next set of upgrades. This is especially applicable to items like rings and trinkets that occupy several slots. The account-wide discount will only be applicable if all slots on the character are filled with top-quality gear.
