We asked experts like Ladina Schopf, an interior designer architect, founder, and co-founder of LS Projects, for tips on how to select the best one. They evaluated the capacity of storage, layout, energy efficiency, and other aspects.

GE Profile Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

Like the name suggests, the GE Profile series is targeted at the consumer who wants to incorporate cutting-edge technology in their kitchen. This refrigerator has it all, from a Keurig K cup coffee maker in the door, to a clever dispenser of water. But these flourishes don't mask mediocre performance, especially in the refrigerator's freezer and an ineffective temperature-controlled drawer. The refrigerator is expensive and I expected more.

Apart from that minor flaw however, this refrigerator is a fantastic choice. It has a huge freezer compartment, which is unusual for counter-depth french door fridge non plumbed door fridges. It also holds plenty of frozen food, which is a big difference from other models.

Inside the fridge, there are 17 shelves and compartments. The refrigerator compartment is 18.5 cubic feet, which is standard for a French-door fridge at this price. It has a decent-sized refrigerator with an ice maker in the left door. However, it's not the largest one I've seen.

You can adjust the shelving in both compartments to create a customized storage arrangement for what you want to store. The GE PYE22PYNFS's interior design is stylish, too. Its LED lighting is a nice addition, and the in-door storage bins have the third shelf, which folds up beneath itself to make it possible to store items that are tall. The drawers include temperature controls that allow you to set them to Meat, Beverage or Deli settings. They're easy to open and close, however I found their plastic textured coatings to be a little hard on the fingers.

The GE PGE29BYTFS Smart Refrigerator is equipped with a complete set of features you'd expect from a fridge at this price that includes Wi-Fi as well as app support through GE's SmartHQ software. The app, available for iOS and Android devices allows you to control your refrigerator from anywhere in the world, and has a ton of customization options. It also sends you notifications when doors are left open, when your fridge or freezer needs defrosting and when it's time to change the filter.

It would be nice if GE PYE22PYNFS could offer Precise Fill, an option found in a few GE refrigerators that allows users to set the amount of cups they wish to pour out. It does offer a countdown on the fridge display to display how much water you have left, but it's not as helpful as Precise Fill.

Created to appear as a seamless element of your kitchen Bosch's French door refrigerator is one of a kind. The fridge uses fingerprint-resistant stainless steel, which is a great feature for busy households. It also has a veggie compartment that keeps fruits and vegetables fresher for longer and dual compressors to preserve food. The ice maker we tested was one of the most efficient and makes the shape of a pyramid using only water. This refrigerator is ideal for a single household or kitchenette that needs a built-in appearance and top-of-the line food preservation.

The fridge was rated the best refrigerator in our Refrigerators Test for a few reasons. The freezer temperatures remained steady at a level that was just above 0 degrees Fahrenheit, never moving by more than a fraction one degree. This is crucial in preventing freezing burn. The fridge's refrigerator section also performed well, achieving the desired temperature for initial set within a matter of hours and keeping that temperature steady over the course of our tests.

Bosch has a reputation for high-end appliances, so it's no surprise that this counter-depth refrigerator is also a smart appliance with the option of connecting to your home Wi-Fi network and Bosch's Home Connect platform. This app lets you monitor and control your fridge from your tablet or smartphone. The refrigerator is costly, but offers great features and functions at a fair price.

While the fridge is an amazing piece of equipment but it's important to be aware of the limitations. It has a narrow space for shelves, so you'll have to think creatively when storing tall items. The shelves are also not resistant to spills and are easily damaged or stained by sharp objects. The trays are easily removed from the fridge. However, they must be cleaned regularly to prevent the growth of mold.

LG Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

The LG LRFLC2706S is a top counter-depth refrigerator that packs plenty of storage in an extremely compact frame. It has a sleek, fingerprint-resistant stainless-steel finish and features thick handles that make them comfortable to grip. Inside, the refrigerator has the standard French-door layout, with gallon-sized door bins on each door, two rows of spill-capture shelves and a set of crisper drawers. The top shelf on the right can be folded down to make space for tall items. You'll also find a full-width deli drawer and an internal water dispenser.

This refrigerator has a freezer with an ice maker making it simple to transfer frozen ice as needed. The freezer is designed with thoughtful elements, for instance, sliding drawers to help you to organize the place of items. It also has a large bin that can hold plenty of frozen food items as well as an ice storage bin.

It has a capacity that is above average for counter-depth models and also cools evenly. It's also a bit less than the best counter-depth refrigerators that have an ice maker, which can make it an attractive option.

Frigidaire Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

If you're looking for an french door fridge with ice & water dispenser door refrigerator that won't break the bank, this Frigidaire is a solid option. It's a basic design that isn't as visually striking like some of the competitors however it comes with enough features that make it a great option. Its most important feature, the temperature adjustable drawer, helps to keep food items such as vegetables and meat fresher for longer. It also has a large water dispenser, as well as an excellent ice machine that works fast.

Another nice feature is the "Chill Drawer" that sits above the two crisper bins. This drawer lets you redirect part of the fridge's cooling power directly to this area, so you can store foods that require extra attention. This feature can be adjusted by using a slider located outside the drawer. You can also use this to set a general cooling level for the entire fridge, however, I've found that changing the general settings tends to have a better effect than specific ones.

In my tests, I discovered that the temperatures of the refrigerator were fairly consistent in various parts of the refrigerator. The temperatures in the top, bottom and middle of the refrigerator did not differ much from 38 degrees. This is a good performance but doesn't quite make it to the top of our rankings.

This fridge has a few other neat features, including a temperature-monitoring display that alerts you to fluctuations and provides a forecast for the day ahead. This fridge can be paired with a smart thermostat to obtain more precise readings of the internal temperature of your fridge.

The Frigidaire FGHB2866PF's exterior is constructed of stainless steel with a grey-bodied body which has a "smudge-proof" finish. It repels fingerprints and streaks better than other stainless steel finishes I've tested.
