World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

Upgrades to items are a method to increase the stats of an item. Depending on the upgrade type it can increase an item's Mark Level or Rarity and boost additional stats.

Upgrading gear in The War Within requires a set number of Flightstones and Crests, and each item has an upgrade track. Each upgrade increases the price of the next item by a specific amount.

Item Level

When an item gets upgraded, its basic stats increase in value. This value is the sum of all of an item's upgraded perks (attack magic attack and defense). The cost of upgrading items can be high, depending on the upgrader and the kind of upgrade you decide to perform. This is because of how many perks need to be replaced in order for the item to be upgraded.

It can also be used as a gating requirement while queueing for raids, dungeons and scenarios. It is also used as a gating requirement when waiting to queue for dungeons and scenarios, and raids, as well as to limit the amount of PvP gear a player can wear (since PvP is restricted to a lower level). The average item level can be found in the character sheet.

Utilizing the level of an item can help players evaluate the strength of equipment when they decide to buy or sell. It's an excellent gauge of an item's worth and how much damage it is capable of causing. The level of the item can be used to compare items when looking at the inventory of a vendor.

The item level can be seen by pressing the ALT key on a PC or using the left stick (L3) on XB1 and PS4. This will display the item's full description, including ilvl. It can also be found by hovering an item with the mouse cursor, and then entering /itemlevel into chat.

There are several theories about how the calculation of an item's level is made. One theory says that the level of an item is calculated by a formula that calculates the worth of an item's stats actually are. It considers the fact that different perks have different values, and also that gems in sockets increase the value of the item overall. This can lead to an item's ilvl calculated, which is usually very close to Blizzards actual level of the item.

However, this is not the only factor which affects an item level upgrade's ilvl, since the level of the area the item was dropped in could alter the value of its stats, for instance by adding an additional level to its crit rating or haste rating. This means that items that drop at higher levels will have more value than items dropped in lower-level instances.

The stats of an item can make or break an item for players. The game uses them in a variety of ways to encourage players to not limit themselves to one weapon and to encourage players to experiment with other weapons. The stats of a base weapon are enhanced by the weapon's stat modification that are in turn enhanced by the player's level.

Upgrades to an item may increase its stats. The rarity of an item determines the upgrade cost. A grey or white item, for example, will only be upgraded one time however, items with rare tiers may be upgraded multiple times with more expensive costs.

Another method to alter the stats of an item is to use affixes. These are special stat boosts that can be added to an item by the player, and are available in all sizes and shapes. The affixes could be used to give the item extra damage, add a special ability to the item (such as reviving dead or cutting down cooldowns) or make the item unique by putting an exclusive name to the item.

All affixes can be re-rolled at the moment by selecting them in the upgrade window and pressing the green button. This will cost a specific amount in gold and items. These can be used as upgrade gauges, similar to other rerolling methods.

In addition to the possibility of rerolling affixes, players may select which stats to be kept on an item when it is upgraded. The range of stats determined by the item's level. However every item upgrader kit will include at least one stat within the range, unless they are an exclusive item or the item is a God Roll from a raid boss.

Another thing that could be changed is the possibility of upgrading equipment without having to reroll the attachments, or pick which stats to increase. Similar to the base equipment, it will have to be done per item, and the item comparison interface wouldn't display all possible stats simultaneously.

Item Luck

The Luck stat of a player increases the chance of finding items as well as the properties spawned by loot and the strength of these properties. However, it doesn't directly impact damage or the ability to upgrade items. It gives players a chance to acquire better equipment in earlier waves and is therefore more valuable in early game runs than in later ones, since most players prefer more powerful weapon scaling and defenses over damage gains.

Luck can also boost the chance of upgrading items at the Blacksmith. This is not to confuse with the Blacksmith's overall upgrade chances that increase with each new level of item. These can also be increased with the use of anti-materials like the Scroll of Strength and a Jewel of Blessing.

The shields, armor, and weapons have an initial Luck value of 40. These items can then be enhanced by golden ingots, spined leather, or oak boards (depending on the type of material used) to grant an additional +40 Luck or to increase the Luck of an item up to 140.

Moreover some items, like the Hollow infused weapon, can be equipped to increase the damage of any damage-dealing skill by 5%. These items are available in the shops or made by using the appropriate ingredients.

Item Failure

Item upgrades are a costly process and not every upgrade item will be successful. However, there are some cash shop items which allow players to increase their chances of success or even prevent themselves from losing an item upgrader mod in the event that the upgrade is unsuccessful.

When you upgrade an item, the success rate is shown in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the chance of successfully upgrading that item and can be increased by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. There are limitations on how much success rates can be increased and the probability of an upgrade failing can't be greater than 100%..

The luck of an item can influence the effectiveness of an upgrade. Each item has an overall success rate of 25%, and each item that has Luck increases this chance by 5percent.

The upgrade overlays of the item are rendered above the items in the inventory. This may cause obscurity to enchantment effects or other effects. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
