World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading

Upgrades can boost the value of certain numeric statistics on armor, weapons and rings. They also boost extra bonuses, such as damage from PvE and crit chance.

For instance an item with the upgrade template that ends in % will take on 3% attack damage every time it upgrades (relative to its previous value).

The cost for upgrading items increases when they reach the current level of the item. The cost increases as the level of the item increases.

Components

Upgrade components are items that can be slotted into armor, weapons and trinkets to give an extra stat boost or effect when they're used. These can be obtained through crafting, buying from vendors, trading or looting. Some upgrades have special cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components can be inserted into any equipment with a slot for them. The item must have been at the very least upgraded to blue level in order for the component to be inserted. In contrast to other mods components can only be used one time; they can't be used multiple times or replaced by new upgrades. Infusions and Enrichments are a kind of upgrade component used to upgrade non-amulet legendary and ascending equipment, as in some items that aren't ascended. Infusions and enrichments can be obtained by salvaging equipment from the ascended state or by completing a mission within the Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall campaigns.

An upgrade may be prefixed or a suffix that alters the name of the equipment to which it is applied (for instancefor example "Canthan Armor Insignia" becomes Canthan Armor of Minor Vigor). Some upgrades increase the Mark Level or Rarity of an item, allowing players to create stronger versions using the smallest amount of upgrade crystals than they require to achieve the same level using standard methods.

A boost upgrade can change the attack or defence characteristics of the weapon or armor. Once the player has completed the cutscene and defeated Crazed Mechanist, these upgrades can be made at the Portative Forging Station. These upgrades can be obtained by purchasing them from the cash shop or by obtaining them from enemies when upgrading other gear.

The player can have a maximum of five boost upgrades at a time. Each upgrade increases the likelihood that a better-quality version of the Item Level Upgrade will drop during the next reset. This gives players the opportunity to upgrade their gear, even if they are unsure how much it can be improved upon the reset.

The process of upgrading an item could be costly and it is likely that the item will become obsolete, or even break, when the upgrade fails. Upgrade Crystals and assist powder are also destroyed when the upgrade fails. Cash shop items can be used to reduce or eliminate the risk of failure. Certain upgrades also provide an additional bonus when reinserted.

Glyphs

Glyphs can be used to enhance the Paragon Board by placing them in special sockets. Glyphs boost the power of all nodes within the area around them and include pre-existing affixes to equipment. Glyphs can be upgraded in a variety of ways. We recommend upgrading them as fast as possible up to 15 levels.

In the endgame you'll find that the best way to improve your gear is by placing Glyphs. They are the only upgrade component that can be upgraded directly to level 15 and provide a large boost to your power and radius on the Paragon Board, enabling you to get higher nodes much faster.

Glyphs, the only upgrade component which can be removed without restriction and then replaced with no restrictions are the most popular. Only legendary equipment can be salvaged and replaced by using a Black Lion Salvage Kit.

The value of each Glyph is displayed when you select it in your inventory. You can choose to replace it with another Glyph of the same rank, or a higher rank, which will boost the overall value of the Glyph.

Glyphs can be found in the Black Lion Trading Post as part of a Gem Store bundle or purchase, with certain unlimited-use tools as well as during Faction Crypt Raids. Each Faction Crypt will drop one of these Glyphs. There are also some rare glyphs you can find in any of the Faction Crypts.

When you have the desired Glyphs, you will have to attach them to your gear. Each Glyph unlocks a unique bonus that boosts a specific set of stat nodes in a radius surrounding the Glyph. Depending on the Glyph it could be +40 to one of your primary stats, or +25 to two of your secondary stats.

Glyphs increase the number of nodes connected to them, so it is recommended to place Glyphs in strategic places on the Graph. This will increase the impact. Druids, for instance should put their Glyphs close to their primary damage nodes. They may also want to consider placing them near their critical damage nodes.

Leveling

The upgrade system for items allows players to increase the effectiveness of certain items by adding upgraded components. This is known as "upping". Every upgradeable item upgrader Kit has an amount that determines its upgraded stats. Upgraded items can be leveled to a maximum of ilvl 385. Each level of an item requires a different number of components, and the upgrade items costs increase as the item gets upgraded.

Some upgrades require a special ingredient to activate. This ingredient is obtained from completing Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be found in the upgrade tab of a crafting table, or purchased from some NPCs. Each Upgrade Recipe that is completed earns some Technology Points. These points can be used to upgrade the item. Once enough points are earned, the upgrade will be claimed and the additional bonuses will be added to the item.

When the player upgrades an item, the base item is replaced by a new item of the same kind. The same armor can be transformed into an weapon or shield when upgraded. The new item also comes with its own set of bonuses. This can be a downside since the item upgrader kit may become more expensive even if you don't require it.

If the player has enough tokens, they can roll the upgrade of their item. The item will be replaced with an entirely new item that is based on a level 1 base and totally different bonuses. This is useful for certain items, but it shouldn't be done regularly, as it can use up many resources.

Some upgrades can be rerolled many times which increases their value and giving players the ability to alter their equipment. One example is Dolphin's Gift, which gives an advantage when a player repeatedly enters and leaves the water (or does not swim as dolphins). The item can be upgraded many times by increasing the maximum roll every time by 10 increments. This item can be extremely valuable in PvP as a perfectly rolled version of it can be worth between 20 and 50x its value without being upgraded.

Requirements

The upgrade of items allows players to increase the level of their available gear--armor, weapons and trinkets that are above ilvl 385 by providing the appropriate currency and items to an NPC that upgrades items. Upgrades to armor set pieces also increase the base defense of the piece, whereas upgrading weapons will increase the damage base and the strength and dexterity required to meet the upgraded equipment's requirements.

Each item can be upgraded a maximum of five times, except for hero gear, which can have eight upgrades. Each time you upgrade an object, it has a chance of failing. The rate of failure increases when you exceed the maximum number. Failures can cause the item to return to its initial state which means that the player has to pay for more items than if they stopped upgrading after the maximum amount.

If an item isn't upgraded, the experience bar in the bar for growth will be reset to zero. In addition the item will be deducted any bonus it earned, including crit chance and attack damage, as well as any other effects that are associated with that effect (for instance, an increase in heal over time or the speed of reloading). The player can continue to use their weapon or armor after the failure.

When an item is upgraded, the upgrades are applied from the lowest to the highest. This means that, should a weapon gain an increase in the chance of crit it will be applied before any increase in attack damage. A new attribute called Slots has been added to the item's definition and the value is recomputed every time an upgrade is applied.

The amount of resources required to upgrade an item is based on the rarity rating as well as the number of upgrade slots. The cost of upgrading equipment that is not premium is equal to its value. For instance an item that is commonplace could have five upgrades at a cost of. 25600 Technology Points, 4x Quality Improvement Chance. Hero grade items are less expensive per upgrade.

Premium items may require different upgrades than normal equipment. For example they may require fewer sowels, but more minerals and orons. However, players must visit the NPC [Armor] Boboko in Central Flarine with each piece of equipment they want to upgrade. Each upgrade to equipment requires different amounts of upgrade ingredients in addition to the costs that are listed above.
