WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades can give you boost in specific stats. Each upgrade increases the level of an item by 3. Each upgrade also increases an unspecified substat.

The upgraded gear is usually more valuable, unless the item has low requirements by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a large variance in stats (like Eth Titan weapons). These types of gear get less value from upgrading due to the necessity to roll to get a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The upgrader for items allows players to upgrade gear to a higher level by supplying the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be made on any kind of armor or weapons. The item upgrades used to upgrade the item upgrading is discarded and cannot be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create enchantments.

You can upgrade your equipment at any time by visiting the upgrader in any major city. To keep your gear current it is recommended you visit the upgrader every several weeks.

Upgrades will cost more, based on the level of the item upgrading but they will always be cheaper than buying new gear. Upgrades such as upgrading a Benthic chest to 385 ilvl will cost you 20 recycle points. Buying a similar item will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used for weapons, armor, tools, and accessory upgrades. They can be purchased through NPCs who sell upgrades to item owners for various currencies. They are also available on random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade can be applied to any weapon, tool, or armor. The button will display the item's next upgrade level, when there are enough materials.

The cost of upgrading is based on the item upgrade slot and the current level of the item and the weapon's price is higher than gloves or bracers for example. Each step costs 15 Flightstones and a few crests, with certain upgrades offering discounts to reduce the cost of the Flightstones or crests used. Once an item is upgraded to a certain amount, it can be degraded and sold back to the upgrader for a lesser amount of both currencies.

Many locations have upgraders for their items which include the main island and a few outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade coupon and the possibility of getting the latest recipe. The discount on upgrades increases according to the number of items that are being upgraded. It can also be boosted by requiring players to complete specific achievements or quests.

Icewind Dale does not have an item upgrader at start unlike Cromwell from Baldur's Gate II. The NPCs who are able to facilitate upgrades are available only through a variety of methods. This is both a positive and an issue.

In Season 3, the upgrade system was tweaked a bit, with several new features added. Once the player has upgraded to a specific level for an armor slot, upgrading other items to the same level, will cost less. This is true regardless of whether the items come from an entirely different set of equipment.

The discount is available to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests required to upgrade is also reduced and is not available until players achieve certain achievement milestones.

Crests

The new currency system isn't complicated to use, however it will bring some modifications to the upgrade process. For instance, once an item level upgrade (just click the following webpage) is at the highest level of upgrading for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic), it won't need Flightstones to be upgraded. This change allows players to upgrade their equipment to the highest possible level for all their characters rather than relying on seasonal loot.

It is best to use your Whelpling-rank crests on the top-quality equipment you can find, and keep Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next set of upgrades.
