Path of Exile Item Upgrades

Armor

Armor upgrades can be applied to both weapon and armor items. They increase the performance of the Item upgrade they are connected to. Armor upgrades are available in the world of the game and can be purchased from Blacksmiths at bonfires. Alternately, they can be salvaged from items that have upgrade components in them using a specialist or more powerful salvage kit.

The level of an armor's or weapon's upgrade determines the amount of damage it is able to take on. The absorption of damage by an armor piece will increase when it's upgraded to the maximum upgrade level. However, it's important to be aware that this upgrade items will increase its weight, which will cause it to be heavier than it was before.

There are several kinds of armor upgrades that are available in the game and they all have distinct effects. For instance, some upgrades give the armor a certain amount of additional health points, while others will make it lighter and stronger. The name of the armor upgrade will tell you the kind of upgrade that an item will receive, as shown below.

Some of the upgrades are also magic or a hybrid of magic and technology, which is identified by a "Magic" or "Hybrid" entry in the table below. Some upgrades also require charges to use. These are indicated as "Charges" entries in the table. These charges are either constantly updated or never expire based on the upgrade.

The cheapest method to upgrade armor is to use Iron Ore, which can be obtained by exploring the area and looting chests of minor loot. Titanium is more expensive however it is obtainable from the smelters in Orgrimmar and Stormwind City. Some upgrades, like the Reforge or the Hot Potato Books can only be applied on armor pieces of the highest level. These upgrades can provide a significant improvements in stats and are a worthwhile cost, especially for single-handed weapons.

A piece of armor upgraded to max upgrade level will dramatically increase its defense values but the wearer must be aware that putting on weight can drastically decrease its speed and agility. It is not recommended to upgrade armor above +9. The added defense generally isn't worth the weight and power cost of the upgrades.

Weapons

Weapon upgrades let players increase the effectiveness of certain aspects of a weapon. Upgrades can improve the accuracy of a rifle, or the damage that shotgun shells do. Certain weapons come with special upgrades that enhance their inherent qualities. They include Frictionless Materials (improves stability and reduces the risk of weapon overheating) and Kinetic Coils (increases the velocity of projectiles for greater damage).

Most upgrades for weapons require three Power Dices, a different amount of Minerals and Erons and a whetblade. These can be gained by completing Side Quests or killing a certain amount of monsters and bosses.

Upgrading a Weapon, Equipment Set piece, or Whetblade requires visiting the NPC [Armor] Boboko in Central Flarine and paying her an upgrade price of a certain number of Bars. The more bars you need to complete an upgrade, the more advanced the level. The cost of upgrades will be lower if have more than one of the upgrade materials.

In Chapter 2: Season 5 the way you upgrade your weapon and sets has changed. Previously, you could seek out an Upgrade Bench and pay a set amount of Bars to upgrade your equipment or weapon to a higher level of rarity. You could continue to do this until you reached the maximum upgrade level for the equipment or weapon, after which upgrades would reset.

This is still possible, but it relies heavily on RNG. You're better off buying gear with low levels of upgrade but with high base scores and stat distributions. These will have a chance at gaining you the highest tier bonuses and blessings.

To increase their level quicker, players usually be more inclined to upgrade their weapons. In addition, players should consider upgrading the weapons they use with their squadmates to make them more powerful as well. Jewels

All tiers of jewels can be made at the Jeweler however, there are some exceptions to this, such as the rare and legendary gems that require you to be at a certain level to qualify for the privilege of having them. In contrast to other upgrade components, jewels can be swapped by a different jewel of the same type without damaging it. You can only replace the jewel only once in a piece of equipment.

It is typical to use more gems for aesthetic reasons. In addition to enhancing performance, the diamonds create an outer layer that is more durable than metal, which means that repeated friction from pivots won't cause harm as easily.

In addition to the above-mentioned upgrades additionally, players can obtain glyphs for their weapons and shields from a Glyphmaster. These glyphs provide a small boost in power and can be exchanged, however they are not guaranteed to appear as loot. They are also available from vendors and by completing road interaction. They can also be found on the Trading Post, or crafted by jewelers.

The first trinket players can unlock is the cloak. It gives a small, but useful bonus in movement speed and the ability to escape. After that, they can purchase amulets, rings and necklaces in a similar fashion to how the player can acquire armor and weapons. Every piece of equipment has an upgrade slot that is either universal or jewel. Universal upgrades are smaller and can be used on any piece of equipment. Jewels cannot be upgraded or replaced and are only compatible with certain trinkets.

These trinkets also provide additional bonuses and abilities that are active even when the character is not in combat. This allows a hero to become more efficient even when not in combat. It can also make up for the lack of a good team or talent tree slots which would normally be filled by the hero's Best item upgrade stats.

In general, trinket upgrades should prioritize BiS (Best in Slot) items you won't replace anytime soon. Then, you should consider any items that have desirable statistics are less significant than the iLevel for the item to be upgraded. This is especially true if an item upgrader has multiple stats that you wish to upgrade, since it's generally better to upgrade just one important stat rather than two sub-optimal ones.

Jungle players often upgrade their yellow trinket to a red one prior to the beginning of the game. Mid and top players on the other hand, will choose either a pink or green ward, depending on the matchup. These choices will have a significant impact on the hero's abilities to control maps.

Aside from the things mentioned above, players may also discover a variety of other trinkets throughout the game in the form of trophies and awards. These can be obtained by completing certain milestones within the story, for instance the main quest of a chapter or destroying a boss.
