WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades will give you a boosts in certain statistics. Each upgrade increases item level by +3. Each upgrade also boosts the random substatus.

The more modernized gear generally has a more value in trade as long as it meets low requirements (like the FB shield of the sorc) or very high stat variance (like the eth titan weapons). The latter are less valuable from upgrading due to the need to roll for a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The upgrader for items allows players to upgrade items their gear to a higher item level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of weapon or armor. The item level upgrade used to upgrade the item is discarded and cannot be used again. Upgrades can be used to create Enchantments.

The upgrader can be found in all major cities and can be visited at any time to upgrade your equipment. It is recommended that you visit the upgrader at least once every few weeks, to ensure that your equipment is up-to-date.

The cost of upgrading will be based on the current level of the item being upgraded, but will always be less expensive than buying new equipment from other sources. For example, upgrading a Benthic chest piece to 385 ilvl will cost 20 recycle points, purchasing a similar piece from a different player will cost 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used for weapon, armor, tool, and accessory upgrades. They can be purchased through NPCs who sell upgrades to item owners for a variety of currencies. They can also find them on random treasure lists. Once an upgrade is purchased it can be applied to any weapon, tool, or armor using the help of The button will display the preview of an item's next upgrade level, if there are enough materials.

Upgrade costs differ based on the item level upgrade slot, and the current item level. For example weapons are more expensive than gloves, bracers or bracers. Each step costs 15 Flightstones and a variety of crests, with some upgrades having a discount to lower the cost of Flightstones or crests that are used. Once an item has been upgraded to a certain level it is able to be downgraded and sold to the upgrader for a lower price.

Many locations have upgraders for their items in addition to the main island and a few outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade discount as well as a chance to obtain a new upgrade recipe. The discount for upgrades increases depending on the amount of items that are being upgraded. It can also be boosted by having players complete some specific achievements or complete quests.

In Season 3, several new features have been added to the upgrade system. Once a player has upgraded to a certain level of item for an armor slot upgrading other items to the same item upgrade level will cost less. This is true even if those items come from another set of gear.

The amount of Valorstones needed for upgrades is reduced, and the discount is account-wide. The amount of Harbinger Crests required to upgrade is reduced too, but it is only available when certain milestones are reached.

Crests

When it comes to upgrading equipment in WoW players have a couple of options. Flightstones are a currency that is available to all players for upgrading. Crests are more special and are used for specific item upgrades level upgrades. Crests are an integral component of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System, which was introduced in version 10.1. They come in four ranks.

First, you must be aware that the crests can only be purchased for equipment that is of a certain rank. Each rank has an upgrade path that is different. The most basic and straightforward upgrade process costs just 15 crests while the most complicated can require as much as 20 crests, based on the kind of gear that is being upgraded.

The new currency system isn't too difficult to use, however it does bring some modifications to the upgrade process. Another notable change is that crests only have one purpose, so it's important to make use of them in a responsible manner. It is recommended to use your Whelpling-rank crests on the top-quality equipment you can find, and save Drake and Wyrm Crests to be used for the next set of upgrades. This is especially relevant for items like trinkets and rings that take up multiple slots. The discount on the account will only be applicable if all slots on the character are filled with top-quality equipment.
